Will my VA disability affect husband's child support obligation

Question:

Hello I’m recently married and my husband has filed for joint custody of his 12 year old daughter. I was wondering if my VA disability can be considered in his monthly child support. We live in California, a community property state.

Jim's Reply:

VA disability payments are considered to be income for any financial statement that asks for income. However, your situation sounds as if you'd really benefit from a professional consultation with a divorce or family attorney who is familiar with the intricacy of California law.
