Hi Jim, I would like to petition for guardianship of my father who is a veteran. Is there legal help to accomplish this? My father was kidnapped by my brother and taken to live with him. My brother doesn't work and is using our father's retirement and VA benefits to pay his bills. He has alienated me from my father. I can only talk to him very occasionally by phone. Everything has been so secret. Dad just wants to live in his own home and I would be there to help take care of him. Dad is of sound mind with some dementia. My father has told my brother he wants to go home, but of course my brother won't let him. Thank you so much for your help.

Your only recourse is to locate and retain an attorney who can help you. That your dad is a veteran doesn't really have anything to do with the issues you've talked about. You'll need a lawyer with experience in elder-law and probate. Good luck.
