Retroactive benefits

Question:

Had a 70% rating.  VA was trying to lower my %;   I disagreed and it was overturned to a 90% in my favor.  Am I suppose to receive retro pay for the difference in % from the day I disagreed to the time I was approved??

Jim's Reply:

You should receive retroactive benefits to the date of the original claim. If you claimed a benefit in January 2015 and were denied in January 2016 but appealed and prevailed in January 2019, you are owed benefits dating to January 2015...the date of the claim.
