Question:
I recently divorced my spouse of 50 years and am required to split my retirement pay with her. I need to know how to legally make it so the military gives that money to her and she pays the taxes on it, not me.

If you are required to pay a certain amount of money each month as an alimony payment, that money comes from you...you can't put that responsibility off on the taxpayer to write the check for you. If you aren't happy with the stipulations of your divorce decree, you have to return to the court and ask for guidance.
