Prostate Cancer

Question:

I have prostate cancer and was in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. How long can I receive 100% disability for the active surveillance on my cancer? I’m 73 years old with a 6 Gleason score. Thanks.

Jim's Reply:

You will receive a 100% temporary disability rating until you have the cancer treated or until you die. Along the way your VA will try to say that you had treatment (you took an aspirin) and that you don't have the cancer because you were treated. You'll have to appeal that when it happens and it happens all too often. Good luck sir.
