temporary VA disability benefits

Question:

If temporary disability benefits are paid at the time of recovering from hand surgery, can the insurance company claim the excess in the case settlement?

Jim's Reply:

If you are having surgery on a hand that is service connected, the VA shouldn't involve any private insurance you may have since the entire tab will be picked up by VA. If you are speaking of temporary benefits other than those offered by VA for a service-connected disability, then the insurance policy should have any details you'll need to know.
