100% rating for presumptive prostate cancer

Question:

I just received a 100% rating for presumptive prostate cancer. My VA letter indicated another C&P exam will be conducted. I will be on Lupron injections for two years. Is this considered ongoing treatment or is the PSA the only indicator used?

Jim's Reply:

The PSA is the indicator although VA does sometimes extend the 100% rating during chemo. There doesn't appear to be a consistent decision making process about that set of circumstances. When you attend the next exam, be sure to point out that you aren't "cured" or totally free of cancer until all treatments are finished.
