Should I be concerned if a local private business is trying to collect Veteran personal info?

Were you aware that Lowes Hardware is collecting information on Veterans. My local Lowes would not give me military discount unless I provided the following information: phone number, branch of service, dates of service, discharge date and rank. I don't know why they are collecting this info but I find it very disturbing.

Lowes is a private business and the data they choose to collect on customers is their business. There is no requirement that they give you any sort of discount...they do that as a courtesy when they do it. Every company you deal with is collecting marketing information about you. If it disturbs you, don't shop there. They have a right to manage their business, you have a right to not go there.
