Remembering Jim

Jim Strickland was a Vietnam era Army veteran and nationally recognized expert on VA disability benefits who was also editor and webmaster of the popular VA Watchdog website. Jim wrote extensively about VA and Social Security disability benefits. Before his recent passing, Jim was kind enough to answer questions from visitors on StatesideLegal.org here in Jim's Mailbag. Question:

Hi Jim, I am 100% P&T Purple Heart recipient from Viet Nam. I do not take Part B Medicare and thinking about dropping Part A since I get all treatment thru VA or VA Community Care. Your thoughts please. Thanks in advance.

Jim's Reply:

Dropping Part A is nearly impossible...it's automatic and unlike the Part B, etc., you aren't allowed to drop Part A. For what it's worth, I'm participating in Community Care and I'm keeping my Medicare A & B...you never know.
