DoD card renewal

Question:

Hi Jim...I am 100% disabled permanent, my wife has a DOD card for the base etc. It expired a month ago so I go to the ID card making on base and they told me there is a glitch trying to make her a card, they said I need to bring in a DD 214, Marriage certificate,  a letter that I'm Disabled...etc. etc. I have been married to the same person for 57 years and I'm 80 what is going on? Thanks Pal!!

Jim's Reply:

First up...we don't allow those cards to expire. We are allowed to renew them some 45 days prior to expiration.

Otherwise, I wish I knew what was going on but I don't have a clue since I wasn't there with you, I don't have access to that computer network and a lot of other reasons I know nothing. If you had wanted to know what was going on the thing to do would have been to ask the people doing the ID card right then and there.

What I'd suggest is to do what they ask and move ahead.

  • PS from StatesideLegal:  We also suggest that you call your base to ask if any different procedures are currently  in place as a result of Covid 19.
