Career Status Bonus plan (Redux)

Question:

I retired from the US Army in 2011. I am receiving my pension and disability benefits from my service connected issues. I would like to take up the fight off getting the Redux plan rescinded. I took the redux plan because I never received a bonus during my 20 years and I needed extra finances to help me clean up my credit and buy a family home. The redux plan is a horrible plan for any service member bc it takes thousands out of the veterans pocket. Over the long run it takes 100,000s out. How is that helpful to the veteran? It only benefits the US government. Bc it pockets that money. We need to fight congress on getting it removed. I don’t want/need money back, I just want to stop giving back soooo much. Not to mention, I only received 22,000 of the 30,000$ from the bonus. Talk about a slap in the face and a hit in the pocketbook! Can we fight this?

Jim's Reply:

Sure you can. Start writing letters to Congress, ask to address the various Congressional committees that are there for you and so on. This is how change happens...go for it.
