Army Engineer with PTSD can't get VA disability

Question:

How many with an Army Engineer Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) get disability for PTSD? Tried twice and was denied twice!

Jim's Reply:

I don't think I've ever broken the stats down that way and to be honest, I don't know why anyone would unless you're doing some sort of research paper. In my experience the veterans who have been successful with PTSD claims have been from all sorts of occupational specialities from combat infantry to hospital nursing services. If you were twice denied, you may have to face the fact that you simply aren't eligible by the standards that VA uses even though you may disagree with that. If you aren't able to present a well grounded claim for a benefit, you'll be denied every time.

Another possibility is that if you have been managing your own claims and appeals without a lawyer to represent you, you could have made a mess of it all and been denied. I see that a lot and once the veteran hires an attorney, things often turn around. If you believe that it's worth pursuing, talk with an attorney. Click here for more information.
