Applied for disability via his doctor

Question:

A very good friend of mine is only receiving 30% VA disability. Four weeks ago, he applied for 100% via his Dr. He hasn't heard anything.  Can you help?

Jim's Reply:

Veterans don't apply for disability benefits through their doctor. The doctor works for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and claims for benefits are managed at the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). We file claims for disability to the VBA and they pull any required information from the veteran's VHA medical records. If your friend would like me to help coach him as he files a claim, he should email me directly at [email protected]
