TDIU and CHAMPVA Eligibility for Children

Question

I am currently rated at 80% disability. I was called by a VA employee to tell me I was eligible for TDIU. I am still currently waiting on approval.  My question is will my kids be entitled to the VA covered medical care? (I forget the name). We are currently covered under Medicaid and I know once I receive the TDIU 100% disability rating we will no longer qualify for government assistance

If the TDIU rating is permanent (not temporary) your dependents should be eligible to apply for CHAMPVA. If the rating is temporary with future exams scheduled, there are no further benefits for your family.

Most mental health conditions (PTSD, MST, Depression, etc.) will be rated as temporary with future exams scheduled.
