NIAA VA Disability Relief Program: Appealing the Loss of Gun Rights
Veterans who are assigned a fiduciary are automatically entered into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). This means that they lose the right to own, carry, or purchase firearms. Because veterans who are unable to manage their money may still be responsible gun owners, an appeal process called the NICS Relief Program exists. This page explains the process of removing your name from the NICS so you can continue to own and purchase guns.
