Owe back taxes

Question:

I’m a Navy Vet. I’m behind on taxes bad. My money is low even though I have a great job. Is there anyone that can help me?

Jim's Reply:

That you're a veteran doesn't really have any meaning to the situation you're in. You're a civilian who is in trouble with the IRS and your veteran status won't help at all. We all make some mistakes so your situation isn't anything unusual. I've been way behind on my taxes many years ago and it's not a great feeling. Once it was made known to me that I had screwed up, I worked with the IRS to come up with a payment plan that we could live with and 5 years later I was done with a great credit record and so on. As they say, death and taxes are inevitable. Since you seem to recognize that you're behind without being told, make a payment plan and stick to it.
