Increase in Current Disability Rating versus TDIU: Advantages and Disadvantages
Undefined

Question:

Hi there. I'm a disabled vet and I currently have an 80% disability rating (70% for PTSD and 10% for Tinnitus). My PTSD symptoms have become markedly worse over the last six months and I'm no longer able to work. So my question is should I apply for an increase in my current disability rating or apply for individual unemployability and what are the advantages and disadvantage of applying for one or the other. Thx, Randy

Jim's Reply:

The TDIU benefit is more or less a shortcut to the 100% rating for veterans who are unable to seek and hold gainful employment due to their service connected disabling conditions. Your very best opportunity lies with applying for TDIU.
