How to submit a VA claim for hearing loss?

Question

I'm a Viet-Nam Veteran and in the process of drafting a final letter to be attached to my service connected hearing loss VA Claim. My questions are as follows:

#1:-How long are cover letters usually, 2 or 3 pages?

#2-I'll also be attaching military/medical documents with my letter in support my VA Claim as well.

#3--Should my letter just stick to the facts on how I received my service injuries and describe them

                          "OR"

#4- Should I also comment in my letter on how my service related injuries have also impact my life once I left the military with my family and job?

#5:-Also does anyone have a "free" sample letter I could use as a guide for my Hearing Loss claim if so it would sincerely be appreciated.

#1 - I try to limit cover letters to a single page.

#2 - OK

#3 - Yes

#4 - Sure

#5 - I don't know of such a thing. To be honest, a hearing loss claim usually isn't all that involved. You claim loss. It isn't usually difficult to service connect hearing loss and tinnitus. Your statement in support of your claim might be as simple as, "I was on the flight line and experienced acoustic trauma...", etc.

Then VA examines you and determines the degree of loss.

I do recommend that you get a civilian audiology exam after the C & P exam. You'll probably need it since VA audiology exams are often less than they should be. Otherwise, simple is better...brevity counts.
