Helping my brother to file a claim

Jim,

Im the proud brother of a returning veteran that is currently rated 10%-PTSD, 40%-TBI Injury. Since returning hes has had a complete meltdown in life from all aspects. He is fighting major depression, ptsd and is just down on life. He has not been stable
enough to work since his return in 2009 and currently is hospitalize at a Behavioral Hospital(Pshyc ward) for 5 days so far. What can I do to help him raise his compensation since 50% is not enough to get him and his son thru. Any help will greatfully be appreciated sir.

There is a formal process that you must follow to have that benefit raised. He must apply and then VA will take weeks or months to decide the claim. You may assist him but he must sign the claim himself. To begin is actually very simple. You write a letter and send it to the
Regional Office that he is associated with...his file will be there.

You may get further instructions here http://www.vawatchdogtoday.org/How_To_Raise_A_Benefit__.html and you'll find more help at http://www.statesidelegal.org (We communicated more later in the day and you've indicated that you'lltake care of this quickly and then follow up with me to determine anything else we need to do.)
