Laws are in place to help those who serve readjust to civilian life.  These laws include protections for Guard Members and Reservists.  In this section of the website, we explain in plain language the nationwide laws that are there to serve you, including:

  • USERRA - The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act - a law to protect you from losing a job or job status because of your service.
  • UCX - Unemployment benefits for those returning from military service who cannot find jobs.
  • Unemployment for Military Spouses - Providing unemployment benefits for some spouses who lose their jobs due to mandatory relocation
  • Education and Job Training Programs

In addition to these nationwide laws and benefit programs, many states have supportive laws for returning servicemembers.  You may be able to find information on a state-by-state basis by browsing a civil legal services website for your state.
