Advocate Resources

Legal aid programs and private attorneys are becoming important sources of legal help for service members, veterans and their families.  If you are new to this area of law, we have created some special tools for your use.  To find the content and links created specifically for advocates, use the search box or browse our legal library.  Advocate resources are coded with a blue triangle marked "advocate."  In the library, check the "include advocate articles"  box to view both the advocate and general public resources.

Also, we have created these three research tool kits that we hope will be particularly helpful as you begin to work in this area:

"The Advocate Tool Kit"  -- a list of important links for factual and legal research related to service members, veterans or their families.

"Training Tool Kit"  -- a list of free and "for fee" services and programs designed to help you become a better advocate for service members, veterans and their families.

Our newest feature for advocates is the Tax Advocate Took Kit.  Our tax expert Sean Norton will answer your tax questions.

We will be adding to these tool kits and identifying other important legal resources on an ongoing basis. Please use our Feedback form to let us know how we can serve you better, to submit ideas for new content, or to share comments on materials currently posted on the site.

Together we can provide our servicemembers with the legal help they deserve.
